I’m looking forward to the day Ransom makes it to my market, I’ve heard a lot about it. The only Old Tom we have available here now is Hayman’s, which is a pretty respectable gin, but quite different in character from Ransom, they say. It will be interesting to compare them.

Giants winning the World Series… well, yes, I can see how that could provide an environment that could color your judgment. Not necessarily for the worse…

I picked up a bottle of Ransom Old Tom Gin the other day from K&L Wines and it made a stunning CR#2 (with Cocchi Americano, Cointreau, fresh lemon juice, and a dab of La Sorciere absinthe). I’ll have to try it in this — so far I haven’t found a gin drink it doesn’t improve. (Then again, I was experimenting Monday night while listening to the Giants win the world series, so context may have something to do with it. :)
